Coman has a lot to say, and does so cogently in lovingly crafted arrangements that serve as perfect musical vehicles. I recommend Used Records highly as a disc worth checking out, but also recommend that if you happen to be near one of Coman’s gigs that you make the effort to get there. Rating: 4 Stars (Out of 5)

Ian began writing at age four when he reportedly conquered the word "cat." Sixteen years later, he wrote his first song, though the results were not, relatively speaking, quite as impressive. Things have gotten better since then, and Ian has performed his songs throughout the northeast at venues such as Club Passim's Campfire Festivals; Stone Soup; and the Emerging Artist Showcase at the 2008 Falcon Ridge Folk Festival.
Of Ian's songwriting, no less an authority than Vance Gilbert actually said : "He can obviously construct a lyric better than I ever could." Of course, he could have gone on and said: "Ian captures breaths from the mouths of angels and pieces them gently together into the words and phrases that not even those heavenly creatures would dare speak," but he absolutely did not say that, and for good reason. |

THE AND COMPANY is the backup band for each audience member's psyche. Three Boston singer-songwriters have built a band whose music seeks to explore the cracks in a society that is overwhelmed with complication. With their intriguing arrangements - invoking something between Children's Theatre and Burlesque - accompanied by mature and heartfelt lyrics sung in smooth harmony, THE AND COMPANY asks you to join them in celebrating the simple things...for it's the simple things in life that carry the most weight.
